The Training Tree Group Is based in Brighton, East Sussex, delivering Baby & Child First Aid courses to parents, grandparents, babysitters and childcare professionals.
Hi, my name is Rachel; I set up The Training Tree Group after working for 16 years as a childcare professional in Brighton and realising how many of the families I worked with had little or no first aid experience. It seemed there were no first aid courses out there for parents or grandparents to learn these invaluable skills.
With the cost of nursery care rising, more and more parents who are returning to work are choosing to use family members as their childcare support network so it’s important that grandparents, aunties etc are up to date with their first aid and ready to act with the skills and knowledge needed should an incident arise.
So I decided to use my knowledge of paediatric first aid and teaching qualifications to become an Ofqual approved instructor and create a 3 hour class specifically for parents, grandparents and carers- it covers topics such as how to deal with choking, what to do with burns, cuts, broken bones, head injuries, meningitis and febrile convulsions, how to administer CPR and more. I keep my classes informal with a maximum of 6 people and they are held in the local Fiveways area
My goal is to develop both the skills and confidence in each of my learners to be able to effectively deal with the first aid emergencies that may arise from looking after babies and children.
